Westminster, MD – Rape Crisis Intervention Service of Carroll County (RCIS) is hosting a Sexual Trauma Advocate and Resource (STAR) Volunteer Training for those interested in becoming hotline volunteers. The training consists of two separate sessions, the first on Friday February 17th, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and the second session is on Friday, February 24th, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Both sessions must be attended. Advanced registration is required; volunteers must be at least 20 years of age and pass a criminal background check ($25.00 fee).
RCIS is a non-profit organization that provides counseling and support services to people in the community affected by sexual violence. Support services include a 24-hour hotline and crisis intervention services; accompaniments for hospital, police or court appearances; information and referral services; and education for prevention.
All interested persons must return a completed application to RCIS, have two references and complete an interview with the Hotline Services Coordinator before entering training!
