Winters Mill will kick off its field hockey season Tuesday and Westminster will play its first game Wednesday.

Westminster finished the 2010 field hockey season 19-0 with the Class 4A state title, conference and county title.

Coach Mary Rivera is starting her sixth year and her team is looking to defend its titles.

Returning are forwards Meghan Macera and Maddy Walsh, midfielder Casie Walsh and defender Caroline Russell. Macera is a senior, Casie Walsh and Russell are juniors and Maddy Walsh is a sophomore.
Macera led Westminster last year with 23 goals and 10 assists. The Owls had 10 shutouts with only one team scoring more than one goal against them.
The Owls start the season on the road at Mount De Sales Wednesday at 4 pm.
Winters Mill
Carli Swift will be coaching the Falcons for her fifth year.
Last year Winters Mill was 9-5-1 overall and 4-3 in the county.
Returning for the team is Morgan Maier, Shelby Trentzsch, Sydney Trentzsch and Molly Van Leuvan. Sydney Trentzsch had eight goals last year.
Winters Mill hosts Frederick County’s Urbana at 4 pm. Tuesday.
