Police Investigate Theft, Handgun Assault at Westminster Walmart
One suspect was arrested and one remains at large.

On Monday, Nov. 21 at around 3 p.m., two African American males entered the Wal-Mart located at 280 Woodward Rd. Westminster, in an attempt to steal flat screen televisions according to a news release.
Police said when the two men arrived at the store, they separated, both got flat screen televisions and attempted to leave the store without paying for them.
The first suspect was detained by Wal-Mart staff and taken into custody by police. Police said that one man, Edwin Lamont Perkins, 49, of Hagerstown, was arrested and charged with Theft: Less $1,000, False Statement to an Officer, Attempted Theft Less $1,000, and Conspiracy to Commit Theft less $1,000. Perkins is currently being held at the Carroll County Detention Center on $25,000 bond according to a news release.

The second suspect was confronted by a Wal-Mart employee. The suspect displayed an unknown caliber handgun and threatened the employee. Police said the suspect then fled the store with the television in an unknown direction. This suspect has been described as an African American male, 5’10 to 6’00”, approximately 180 - 200 pounds, in his mid 30s.
