According to a news release, Brenda Dann-Messier, Assistant Secretary for the United States Department of Education's Office of Vocational and Adult Education (OVAE), will take part in two roundtable discussions and a tour of the Manufacturing and Machine Technologies program.

The OVAE is conducting a month-long series of visits to model programs across the country in response to the President's call in his State of the Union address for a greater investment of funds to prepare for the jobs of tomorrow.

was chosen as the first stop in the series of visits to showcase exemplary career programs focused on advanced manufacturing. The Manufacturing and Machine Technologies program was selected because of the program's structure and for being the first high school program in Maryland to receive accreditation from the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS).
