Westminster School Celebrates National Catholic Schools Week
Students, faculty and staff at St. John Catholic School are celebrating their accomplishments this week in recognition of National Catholic Schools Week.
In honor of National Catholic Schools week, St. John Catholic School is celebrating with a week of masses, open houses, and activities.
According to a press release announcing the festivities, National Catholic Schools Week is a week of regonition that allows the nations Catholic Schools to acknowlege the accomplishments and contributions of their students, teachers and administrations. The recognition week, which began Jan. 29, was created by the National Catholic Educational Association and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.
In honor of the week, St. John Catholic School has a full calendar of activities planned to showcase its students, its curriculum and its community.

This year’s theme is “Catholic Schools: Faith. Academics. Service.”
“Catholic Schools Week presents us with an opportunity to display our incredible school community where St. John School students learn to put their faith in action through local and global service projects," stated St. John School Principal Harriann Walker in the press release. "This week, we will also focus our attention on the school’s highly qualified faculty and staff. The staff is very dedicated to assisting students reach their full potential through rigorous academic pursuit with an emphasis on moral, ethical and spiritual development.”

St. John School kicked off its celebration Monday, when students participated in a special community service project geared at making a difference to local residents in need.
On Wed., Feb. 1, the school begins “Walk-in Wednesday’s” school tours. During the day, members of the community are being invited to tour the school and learn about school programs and curriculum.
About the festivities, St. John's Director of Development stated, “Catholic School’s Week enables us to show the warm and nurturing environment that exists at the school. The faculty and staff are experienced, dedicated and committed to their students’ total development.”
