Winters Mill Brings Home State Girls Lacrosse Title, Again
Winters Mill defeated Loch Raven 13-2.
Winters Mill defended the girls class 2A-1A girls lacrosse title Wednesday at UMBC defeating Loch Raven 13-2.
The game was controlled by the Falcons from the opening whistle. Winters Mill scored four goals before the Raiders got on the scoreboard.
The Falcons answered that goal with five of their own in six minutes to take a 9-1 lead at halftime.

The Falcons kept a hold of the game in the second half as they out scored Loch Raven 4 to 1.
"Who would have thought on March 1, our seniors would lead us to the final win at this point. I don’t think anybody expected us to be here. We just got better and better as the year went on,’’ said coach Courtney Vaughn.

Winters Mill was led by Erin McMunn and Sydney Trentzsch with three goals each. Madison Cyr and Felice Artuso had two goals each, while Mandy Buell, Emily Peters and Jenny Simensky each threw in a goal.
Kacie Fogle came up big in the goal for the victors. She played goalie for the Falcons, but will return to midfield next year at Liberty University.
