$5K Stolen At LensCrafters, Thieves Shown On Video: Police

Montgomery County Police are looking for two thieves who were caught on video stealing thousands from a LensCrafters shop.

WHEATON, MD — Two thieves who stole about $5,000 worth of eyeglasses from a LensCrafters store were captured on surveillance video, which Montgomery County Police have released in hopes that the public can help identify the suspects.

According to the press release, police were called shortly after 10 a.m. on Oct. 12 to the store inside the Westfield Wheaton mall for a reported theft. The two thieves entered the store and swiped several pairs of eyeglasses from the display shelves before stuffing them in shopping bags. The suspects fled when an employee confronted them. According to the police report, the suspect wearing the red hat is a male and the second suspect wearing the red jacket is a female.

Authorities believe that the two suspects are responsible for stealing merchandise from other LensCrafters stores in the area. The video was made public on Thursday.

The police is asking anyone with information about the suspects or this theft to call the 4th District Patrol Investigations Unit at 240-773-5522. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). There is a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest and/or indictment.
