• Montgomery County needs volunteers to help families get free tax help (mymcmedia.org) — Wheaton residents earning $71,000 or less can get free tax preparation through Montgomery County's VITA program, which will operate locally during the 2027 tax season. The county is seeking volunteers, including Spanish speakers and high school students who can earn SSL hours, with free training and flexible schedules plus virtual info sessions to get started.
   

• New MARC train service offers Brunswick-Baltimore connection for UMD commuters (dbknews.com) — Commuters traveling from Wheaton to the University of Maryland now have a new option thanks to a MARC train line linking Brunswick and Baltimore through College Park. The weekday service could help Wheaton students avoid Purple Line construction traffic, with morning and evening trains and a temporary fare discount running through March.
