NIH Community Orchestra and Chorus present: “A Musical Journey From the Sacred to the Secular”

The NIH Community Orchestra and Chorus in association with the East Avenue Ensemble of Chevy Chase present: “A Musical Journey From the Sacred to the Secular”. The one-time only performance, which is sponsored by the NIH Recreation and Welfare Association and the American Music Performance Foundation, will take place on Sunday, June 2, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. in Haas Hall, Figge Theater, Georgetown Preparatory School, 10900 Rockville Pike, North Bethesda, Maryland 20852. Although both the concert and parking are free of charge, free will donations are welcome to benefit the charities of the NIH.


The concert will feature a combination of timeless orchestral and classical music. The Orchestra will perform Dvorak’s Symphony No.8 and Mendelssohn’s Violin Concert Op 64 and more. The Chorus will join the Orchestra in the performance of Faure’s Requiem and Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus and Hallelujah, Amen (from Judas Maccabaeus). The Chorus will also perform Randall Thompson’s Alleluia and The Last Words of David and more.
