Selecting Native Trees and Shrubs

Diane Lewis, Brookside Gardens Staff

In some plant circles, exotic plant species from distant lands are a no-no.  Some gardeners are striving to utilize native plants, or at least cultivars of native plants. Not all natives are landscape worthy, but there are many under-utilized native species to be considered if your garden can furnish a compatible environment.  Some are easy to grow, some require specific cultural conditions.  This comprehensive
slide program covers the very broad range of native species that grow in our area, many planted at Brookside.  Three sessions: Course # 232199; Wednesdays,
May 15, 29, June 12; 6:30-8:30pm
; Registration required at www.ParkPASS.org ;
