Julie Gross is inspired by the lines and colors in cities and landscapes, and has a strong sense of linear perspective and beautiful skies. Her work illustrates well-known buildings, as well as obscure city streets and alleys, while exaggerating colors and abstracting shapes. Often, the juxtaposition of buildings with the soft brushstrokes in the skies is used to create contrast.
Most recently, Julie has been experimenting with larger scale works that provide the opportunity to explore different textures and create a stronger sense of perspective. Most of her artwork involves places that she enjoys visiting, including Baltimore, Washington DC, San Francisco, and Toronto.
