• Montgomery County Council to Consider Housing, Tax Credit and Public Safety Bills (mocoshow.com) — Montgomery County is considering a bill to expand the Wheaton Urban District so it officially includes the Wheaton Library, Recreation Center, and Wheaton Local Park, tying them together along Georgia Avenue. The same session will introduce major countywide proposals on landlord-tenant rules, short‑term rentals, fire safety, and new tax credits for families, homeowners, and school employees that could affect many Wheaton residents' housing costs and protections. 
• Where to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month in the DC area (wtop.com) — Wheaton residents can join a Hispanic Heritage Month Unity Festival in town, with live music, food, piñata making, and face painting for families. It's one of many D.C.-area celebrations, from film festivals and museum tours to dance workshops and restaurant specials, offering plenty of ways to honor Latino culture close to home and around the region.
• Hispanic Heritage Month events continue despite immigration concerns (mymcmedia.org) — Wheaton residents are navigating Hispanic Heritage Month as immigration uncertainty continues, after last year's cancellation of the Salvadoreñisimo Festival in town over fears of immigration raids. With Temporary Protected Status for Salvadorans still in limbo, Montgomery County is moving ahead with a slate of Hispanic Heritage events that celebrate culture while many local families remain anxious about their future.
