17 Halloween Weekend Events To Check Out In Massachusetts

From parties to family-friendly events and everything in between, here's what to know for Halloween weekend 2024 in Massachusetts.

MASSACHUSETTS — It's Halloween weekend in Massachusetts, and Patch has you covered from Salem to Boston to Cape Cod and beyond.

We've compiled 17 events to check out this weekend, which don't include month-long activities like haunted houses, pumpkin patches and more.

One special event scheduled for this weekend is the 20th annual Jamaica Plain Canine Costume Parade.

Registration begins at noon at the First Baptist Church, 633 Centre St., and the parade kicks off at 1 p.m. when it will proceed down Centre Street to the Loring Greenough House at 12 South St.. It's there where the decked-out dogs will walk a red carpet and compete for prizes.

Officials said about 100 dogs have participated annually over the last few events with over 1,000 people turning out to watch, including 400 to 500 at the red carpet.

This year's judges will include City Councilor Ben Weber, State Rep. Samantha Montaño, Jamaica Plain Animal Clinic owner Jonathan Levine and TimeOut Boston editor Jacqueline Cain. The event will conclude around 3 p.m.

While everyone is welcome to participate, people are encouraged to register their dogs for the costume contest for a $10 fee. All proceeds from the registration fees go to the City of Boston Animal Shelter.
