For Monday's drawing, the winning numbers were 16, 34, 46, 55, 67, and red Powerball 14. The Power Play multiplier was 3X.
To win $50,000, the player must match four numbers and the Powerball number. To hit the jackpot, a player has to hit five numbers plus the Powerball number.
A lucky California resident won the jackpot of $1.765 billion in Wednesday's drawing. The jackpot has a cash value of $774.1 million. Most jackpot winners take the lump-sum payment option rather than an annuity that spreads payments over 20 years.
The winner marks the second-largest in the game's history. Last year, the jackpot climbed to over $2 billion before a California resident won, according to the California Lottery.
Wednesday's drawing marked the 36th in a row without a jackpot winner. It was also the first time in Powerball history that back-to-back jackpot cycles have generated billion-dollar grand prizes. The last time someone won it all was July 19, when a California resident won $1.08 billion.
Powerball tickets are $2 per play. Tickets are sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. More than half of all proceeds from the sale of a Powerball ticket remain in the jurisdiction where the ticket was sold. Powerball drawings are broadcast live every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. ET from the Florida Lottery draw studio in Tallahassee.
The overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 24.9. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.
