Restaurants across Massachusetts are celebrating National Lobster Roll Day with supersized lobster rolls, eating challenges and a chance to score free seafood.
Legal Sea Foods, Pauli’s and Saltie Girl in Boston will mark the June 15 holiday with specials and challenges centered around the classic New England favorite.
Pauli’s in Boston’s North End is marking the occasion with 15 U.S.S. Lobstitution Challenges.
The challenge requires participants to finish a 2-foot toasted sub roll packed with 28 ounces of fresh lobster in under 10 minutes. Contestants must pay up front and sign a waiver before competing.
Saltie Girl will hold a lobster roll giveaway from Saturday, June 13 through Monday, June 15.
Guests who order one of the restaurant’s lobster rolls will receive it free if their plate contains a golden lobster sticker.
Saltie Girl is located at 279 Dartmouth St. in Boston.
For those looking to go big, Legal Sea Foods is debuting “Legal’s Largest Lobster Roll,” a 3-foot-long, 4-pound lobster roll served with french fries and coleslaw on Monday.
The one-day special is designed to feed six to eight people and will be available at all non-airport locations while supplies last.
The oversized sandwich comes with a hefty price tag of $375.
Legal Sea Foods has multiple locations in Boston, along with restaurants in Braintree, Burlington, Cambridge, Chestnut Hill and Framingham, among other communities.
