Cambridge City Employee Killed In Early Morning Shooting

Cambridge Emergency Communications received a 911 call at approximately 5:30 a.m. reporting a person lying on the ground near the intersection of Broadway and Norfolk Street. The Public Works employee was pronounced dead after first responders determined he had suffered a gunshot wound. The shooting remains under investigation by the Cambridge Police Department, the Middlesex District Attorney's Office, and Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the district attorney's office.

Youth Points Gun At Other Juvenile And Pulls Trigger: Framingham Cops

Officers responded to a report of a firearm found by a juvenile and learned that the child had located the weapon before any adults became aware of it. After picking it up, police said the juvenile pointed the firearm toward another juvenile and pulled the trigger. The gun was not loaded, and no one was injured.

Black Bear Sighting Reported At Brockton Park

The gates at DW Field Park were closed at South Street after the large animal was spotted. Several residents saw and photographed the black bear Thursday night in the area of Route 28 and North Main Street, near the Avon/Randolph border. Animal Control said the bear was then sighted twice more in the area of DeMarco Park and DW Field Park.

2nd Suspect Sought In South Boston Lemonade Stand Robbery

The police department is asking for the public's help identifying a person it believes was involved in the armed robbery of two children operating a lemonade stand in South Boston last month, and has released photos of a person it believes was involved. Detectives arrested a 14-year-old juvenile male two days after the June 10 incident. He has since been arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court on two counts each of delinquency, to wit:, armed robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm. However, a second juvenile remains at-large. Siblings Juliette and David Byrne had set up the lemonade stand to earn spending money during the summer. In the days following the incident, the 11- and 12-year-olds continued operating the stand and were met by neighbors and residents who stopped by specifically to support their business.

Firearm Investigation Leads To Arrest Of 18-Year-Old In Malden

The resident was arrested on Friday, July 3, after officers developed information indicating that he had a firearm despite being prohibited from legally possessing one under Massachusetts law. Police obtained a search warrant for a residence on Warren Avenue. The Malden Police Special Operations Unit executed the warrant with assistance from the North Metro S.W.A.T. Team.
