Driver Leaves UMass Student Seriously Injured After Hit-And-Run

State police are asking for help from the public finding the SUV driver who sent the student to the hospital.

AMHERST, MA — State police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who left a UMass student seriously injured on Monday.

According to police, the driver hit the student around 10:15 p.m. Monday as the student was crossing near Massachusetts Avenue and Sunset Avenue at the Amherst campus. The student was taken to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield for treatment.

The driver was operating a silver or white SUV, and hit the student with the front driver's side of the vehicle. Police believe the vehicle will have noticeable damage due to the collision.
