MASSACHUSETTS — It isn't so much a question of what there is to do in the Boston area and beyond, but rather, what should locals do?

Welcome to Patch's latest weekly roundup of highlight-worthy events across the city and surrounding areas. We've compiled them into one, easy-to-follow list, for your weekend planning.

This week, Patch rounded up a number of watch parties for both the NCAA men's and women's basketball tournaments. Those games will be played Friday through Monday, giving plenty of opportunities to get out of the house and cheer on a team like you actually went to the school.

Plus: The Arlington Jazz Festival returns this weekend, the acclaimed author Don Winslow is in Cambridge for an author talk and Alan Ruck is in Boston for a special screening of "Ferris Bueller's Day Off".
