TAUNTON, MA — A Massachusetts crossing guard was arrested twice in one day and fired from his job after being accused of hitting a woman and her child with a stop sign stick and then attacking multiple photographers while leaving court Monday, reports say.

The man, Louis Chaves, 68, from Taunton, was first accused of yelling at a woman stopped in her car at an intersection who sneezed and was trying to find a tissue.

"He was yelling at her while her child was in the vehicle. The crossing guard then put the stop sign stick through the passenger window and started swinging it all around the car, calling her names and told her that she needs to get out of there," the prosecutor said, according to WCVB. "The defendant was swinging the stop sign stick in the vehicle, and it struck the daughter in her arm."

He was arraigned on three counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, to which he pleaded not guilty before being released and ordered not to have contact with the victims, according to WHDH. He was also fired from his job.
