MA Earns High Marks In 'Quality Of Life' Rankings
Massachusetts is considered a leader in several critical categories, according to recently released rankings.
Massachusetts is ranked high on new quality-of-life rankings from CNBC. The news network placed the Bay State in a tie for No. 8 with Virginia and Nebraska.
Massachusetts received the high rank due to being America's healthiest state with the lowest incidence of premature death. The state ranks No. 1 for primary doctors and mental health providers per capita, according to CNBC.
It also has the lowest level of residents lacking health insurance at 2.6%, compared to 8% nationally.

"Massachusetts is a leader in worker protections, according to Oxfam America’s annual scorecard on Best and Worst States to Work in the U.S. — particularly when it comes to guaranteeing the right to organize," CNBC wrote.
The state lost points for its poor air quality and high costs of child care.

The rankings were based on ten categories of competitiveness, including crime rate, air quality, the cost of child care, protections for workers, protections against discrimination, and more.
New England fared well overall on the list, with three of the top five being Vermont, Maine, and Connecticut.
