MA School Worker Accused Of Hiding Crypto Mine In School Crawlspace
It took three months of investigating before police identified Cohasset town employee Nadeam Nahas as a suspect.

COHASSET, MA — A former Cohasset town employee accused of hiding a crypto mining operation in a crawlspace under Cohasset Middle/High School is facing criminal charges after being accused of stealing nearly $18,000 in electricity to power the scheme, according to a report.
Cohasset police told Patch that they were called to the school in December 2021 after the director of facilities told them he had found electrical wires, temporary duct work, and computers that seemed out of place. Eventually, police discovered a cryptocurrency mining operation that was illegally attached to the school’s electrical system.
Police said it took three months of investigating before they identified 39-year-old Nadeam Nahas as a suspect and charged him by criminal complaint with fraudulent use of electricity and vandalizing a school. Nahas resigned his position with the town in early 2022, police said.
