Man Hospitalized After Escaping Fire In Worcester County Home
An investigation is underway to determine its cause, but officials said it doesn't appear suspicious.
WARREN, MA — A man was seriously injured and left without a home on Wednesday after a fire in Warren, said Warren Fire Chief Adam Lavoie and State Fire Marshal Jon Davine.
Fire crews arrived at 458 Boston Post Rd. around 4:30 p.m.to see a heavy fire engulfing the single-family home, and an injured man had already escaped and was outside the building. He was flown by Life Flight to a hospital in Rhode Island for treatment, officials said.
Firefighters provided medical care while attackign the fire, and a second alarm was struck. Mutual aid from Ware, Brimfield, Brookfield, and West Brookfield came, and the Palmer Fire Department provided station coverage.

The fire was controlled within about 25 minutes, but crews stayed on the scene for about four hours to extinguish hot spots and support investigators, officials said.

"Thank you to all the personnel who responded to this, and to the good samaritans that stopped to provide care for the patient. Deputy Chief Beauregard arrived on scene within 90 seconds of dispatch followed by the first due engine within 4 minutes of dispatch," the Warren Fire Department wrote in a news release. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the injured party from this fire as well as the party’s family."
