From banks, to buses, libraries and municipal offices, find out what'closed in Massachusetts on MLK Day 2023.

MASSACHUSETTS — On Monday, residents and businesses will take a moment to honor the life, legacy and work of civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr.
As a federal holiday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day will also mean widespread closures of government offices, libraries, plus schedule alterations to public transit and trash pickup schedules.
Bank branches will be closed on MLK Day, including large chains like Chase, Bank of America and Wells Fargo. However, almost every retailer and restaurant will likely be open — although it's best to call ahead if you're unsure.

Before you head out, here’s a roundup of what’s open and what’s closed on Martin Luther King Jr. Day in our city:
- Town, city offices: Closed, but regular operations resume on Tuesday
- Public schools: Closed
- RMV: All offices closed
- Liquor stores: Allowed to be open as usual
- Public libraries: Closed Monday, some closed Sunday
- U.S. Postal Service: Post offices closed, no mail delivery
- Massachusetts Courts: Closed
- Transportation:
- MBTA: Subway, bus, and The RIDE on Saturday schedule; commuter rail and ferries on a weekday schedule.
- Worcester RTA: Saturday service
- Merrimack Valley RTA: No bus or van service
- MetroWest RTA: No Natick or MathWorks shuttles. All other MWRTA buses on regular service.
- Lowell RTA: Saturday service
- Trash/recycling: Check with your local provider. Many will have a one-day delay.
