Missing NY Teacher's Remains Believed Found In Western MA

State police said human remains found in Lee are believed to be those of 42-year-old New Jersey teacher Meghan Marohn, missing since March.

LEE, MA — Human remains found in Lee on Thursday are believed to be those of 42-year-old New York teacher Meghan Marohn, who had been missing since March.

State Police said on Friday that a person walking in a heavily wooded area near Fox Drive in Lee discovered the partial remains. Police responded and found additional remains believed to be those of the same person.

"Investigators are still actively searching the area, and the evidence collected thus far indicates a high likelihood that the remains are that of Ms. Marohn," State Police said in a statement on Friday.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner took custody of the remains to make a positive identification.

Marohn was reported missing on March 29 with her car found unattended at Longcope Park — a 46-acre park — later that day. Her family set up a website for tips and was offering a $50,000 reward for information that led to her safe return.
