These Are The Best Hospitals In MA, Newsweek Says In New List
Newsweek recently released its rankings of "America's Best In-State Hospitals" for 2024. Here's who made the list in Massachusetts.
MASSACHUSETTS — The best hospital in Massachusetts is Massachusetts General Hospital, but eight others are ranked in Newsweek’s first-ever ranking of America’s Best In-State Hospitals.
Every hospital in the country was eligible for the inaugural ranking for 2024, which includes 600 hospitals across all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
The results are based on four data sources, including surveys by Newsweek’s data partner, Statista, of doctors, hospital administrators and other healthcare professionals, as well as patients, and Medicare and Medicaid data.

The final scores were weighted on peer recommendations (32.5 percent in-state and 7.5 percent out-of-state), patient experience (17.5 percent), hospital quality metrics (40 percent) and implementation of standardized Patient-Reported Outcome Measures, or PROMs (2.5 percent).

- Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston, 88.17%
- Tufts Medical Center, Boston, 88.08%
- Brigham And Women's Faulkner Hospital, Boston, 81.68%
- Newton-Wellesley Hospital, Newton, 81.11%
- UMass Memorial Medical Center, Worcester, 80.67%
- Lahey Hospital and Medical Center, Burlington, 80.54%
Boston Children's Hospital also made the list in the special category.
