'Wintry' Storm To Bring Cold Rain, Harsh Wind To MA This Weekend: See Latest Forecast

The harsh feel of winter will spoil the final weekend of May as a very raw, cold and windy storm is set to ruin another Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

The storm will feed off a pool of arctic air to deliver a shot that will feel more like early March than the eve of June with a gusty north wind, the chance for sleet-like graupel in southern New England, and some snowflakes in the higher elevations of northern New England.

A nationwide blocking pattern will lock in the cold air on Saturday after a pleasant and seasonable Friday and before a warming trend on Sunday.

But Saturday is shaping up to be a mess with showers arriving Friday night.

Lows on Saturday morning could reach down into the 30s across Massachusetts with the biting north wind blowing 17 to 20 mph, and gusts up to 34 mph, according to the NWS.

Most of Saturday is expected to be a washout with temperatures struggling to get back to 50 degrees.

Clearing is forecast after midnight and lows in the 40s.

Sunday should be much better with sunny skies reemerging and highs back up near 70 degrees.
