AB Regional School's lack of transparency on full display

How ironic that the day I publish an article detailing the huge bonuses being given to our teachers, I get a notice that in two days, on Thursday, May 22, 2014, the School Committee will be making public the new teacher's contract between the Regional School Committee and the Acton Education Association (AEA) and then promptly voting to approve it.

You can see the posted agenda here. The public part of the meeting starts at 7:30 pm, according to the agenda. (The agenda link is in the bottom-right corner of the page.)

These contacts are negotiated by a subcommittee of the School Committee with frequent updates to the full Committee, then when a deal is agreed, the union gets to vote on it first. If they approve it, it comes back to the School Committee which then publicly votes for it too.

As is the School Committee custom, no information is being released in advance. The public has to show up at the meeting to see the contract....
