The Cars' journey began with Ric Ocasek and Benjamin Orr collaborating on several projects in the early 70's.&nbsp; Ric and Benjamin eventually completed the lineup with Greg Hawkes, Elliot Easton, and David Robinson in Boston in 1976.&nbsp; In the confusion left behind from the death of disco and the angst of punk, they forged a new direction bringing together the synthesizer sound with classic rock and roll roots.&nbsp; It created a unique sound for the time and icon John Lennon became a fan stating,&nbsp;"I think The Cars’ 'Touch and Go' is right out of the fifties ‘Oh, oh…‘ A lot of it is fifties stuff. <h4>An Interstellar Journey Into the Music of Pink Floyd and Laser Light Show!</h4>
Into The Floyd brings alive the music of Pink Floyd by performing an authentic and diverse catalogue of the band’s music all the way from their earliest material from the 1960s through to their final work.
Based in New England (Central Massachusetts) and featuring a primary lineup of five multi-instrumentalists, Into The Floyd — formerly known as Gilmour's Breakfast — emulates the experience of a live Pink Floyd concert with fully immersive lighting and visuals that weave through the sonic tapestry of the Floyd soundscape.
While being able to perform note-perfect renditions of the band’s studio recordings, Into The Floyd also takes pride in re-creating classic live versions of the band’s tracks and will often create compelling hybrid editions of their own. Diehard fans will be happy to hear deep tracks, and casual listeners will know the FM hits.
Band members include Martin Stewart (lead guitar, vocals), Matt Swanton (vocals, saxophone, guitar, keyboards), Doug Alexander (keyboards), Max Christian (bass guitar), and Mark Kaefer (drums).
We don't just aim to please every fan in the audience — but instead to lure them into a suspension of disbelief where they are experiencing a true Pink Floyd concert.

On Sunday, September 20th, Sudbury will host our third inaugural <a href="https://kids.pmc.org/sudbury" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Sudbury PMC Kids Bike Ride</a>.&nbsp;Our ride is a 1-mile loop that riders may enjoy as long as they would like. The one mile course is entirely paved and loops through the beautiful residential neighborhoods of historic Sudbury. Parents are welcome to ride with their children but it is not required. If a parent chooses to accompany their child on the bike, we ask that they register as volunteers.&nbsp;
Many kids choose to ride the loop 3-6-12 or even 15 times. We encourage riders to participate as long as they would like. We will have special badges for riders who accomplish 5-8-12 and 15 miles, too! Please indicate at registration an estimate of your rider's total distance (this will help us for event organization).&nbsp;There is also an enclosed parking lot loop all starting from Curtis Middle School in Sudbury, MA. (Adults may opt to register as volunteers if they would like to ride with the kids). Before the ride there will be music and bike decorating; during the ride and following there will be an Ice-Cream Truck, Food Truck, Coffee Truck, huge bouncy castle, lawn games, music and more. All registered riders will get a free ice cream from our friends at Trombetta’s Farm Ice Cream. Registration takes place from 8:30am-9:45am. The ride is from 10:00am-11:30am, and food and games will be available from 10:00am - 1:00pm.
“The Pan-Mass Challenge is a Massachusetts-based bike-a-thon that raises more money for charity than any other single athletic fundraising event in the country. Always held the first weekend in August, the PMC raises funds for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, a world leader in adult and pediatric cancer treatment and research. Each summer, thousands of riders and volunteers from 43 states and 12 countries participate in the PMC, all with a common goal: to find a cure for cancer.
100 percent of all rider-raised funds go directly to cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund. The PMC is Dana-Farber’s single largest supporter and is 62 percent of the Jimmy Fund’s annual revenue. Since 1980, the PMC has raised $972 million for Dana-Farber.”
The Sudbury PMC Kids Bike Ride empowers young participants to contribute to a meaningful cause while enjoying a fun activity. By offering multiple course options, every child will have the opportunity to participate and make a difference - regardless of age or ability. Each ride distance is carefully planned to be safe and enjoyable, with designated routes through historic Sudbury neighborhoods that are well-marked and closely monitored by volunteers. For the youngest participants, the tot lot loop provides a secure environment where kids can ride in a contained area - strollers, scooters, tricycles are ALL welcome!
Beyond the joy of bike riding, the Sudbury PMC Kids Bike Ride serves as a powerful educational experience for children, teaching them about the impact of collective efforts in fighting cancer. As they pedal for a purpose, they learn about empathy, community involvement, and the importance of supporting breakthroughs in treatment and cures at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. This event not only raises crucial funds for cancer research but also instills valuable life lessons in the young riders; collectively we all pedal towards a more cancer-free future. As with all PMC rides, every penny donated goes directly to cancer treatment and research at Dana-Farber.

Have you ever wondered how artists can make a painted landscape seem to disappear into the distance? Or drawn fruit look as if you could pick it up? Artists use a familiar set of techniques to communicate depth and dimension in their work, which are all based on how our brains interpret visual scenes. In this workshop, we will explore these techniques while also learning why they work and how they’re grounded in human perception.&nbsp;

<ul><li>This workshop will take place on zoom.</li><li>All levels welcome.</li><li>Open to students age 16 and up.</li><li>Supply List: Preferred drawing materials such as pencil or pen, eraser, and paper or sketch book. Color is optional for this class.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li></ul>
About the Instructor:
Rachel Mirus is a teaching artist, nature writer, and lifelong learner. Her passion is to inspire observation, experimentation, and creativity in students of all ages through her visual art, writing, and teaching. Originally trained in biology, she has worked in research labs and museums across the country, including the California Academy of Sciences and the Harvard Museum of Natural History.&nbsp;She continues to teach&nbsp;online for the Harvard Museum of Natural History, in person for Vermont nature centers and arts organizations, and has been a resident artist at public schools in Vermont and New Hampshire. Rachel&nbsp;actively practices the skills of learning by pursuing skills she’s bad at, including Celtic harp, belly dance, and Abenaki language.&nbsp;
