Acton Bank Robbery Attempt Was Just Misunderstanding: Police

A masked person tried to get into the Middlesex Savings Bank in Acton but was blocked after the doors were closed due to COVID-19.

ACTON, MA — What seemed like an attempted bank robbery was just a misunderstanding, according to Acton police. Acton police responded to the report on Wednesday. The incident happened at 1:19 p.m. at the Middlesex Savings Bank on Massachusetts Avenue.

A person wearing a ski mask was reported running to the back door of the bank, trying to get in. The doors of the bank were closed due to precautions against the spread of the new coronavirus.

As police investigated the incident, it turned out that the man in question was a regular customer of the bank and was trying to use the facility. He told police he pulled his winter hat over his face to avoid dust from the onsite landscaping and leaf blowing.
