Acton-Boxborough Dance Center Starts “Social Dis-Dancing”

ACTON, MA — Dancers are known for being flexible and creative, so it’s no surprise the students of Acton- Boxborough Dance Center are making good use of their time at home by continuing their training. As soon as the school closures were announced, the team at ABDC was working hard to launch online classes.

The ABDC team created online courses for over 55 classes offered.

Teachers have worked tirelessly to make videos for students to dance along with at home, and have also worked hard to keep in touch with their students during this time. They’ve handwritten postcards to each of their students, shared resources, craft videos, and offered live classes through Zoom to keep spirits up, and to keep minds and bodies busy.

ABDCOnline is housed on a new website created to provide community resources, links to online dance classes, and videos accessible to everyone, not just ABDC students. The site is updated daily, and ABDC is also posting weekly challenges on their social media accounts to keep dancers engaged.

One parent wrote about participating in the online Budding Ballerinas classes: “She is currently glued to the screen practicing with huge smiles and giggles. It was nice to have some of our routine back.”
