Acton Car Thief Arrested, Police Say

The following is from Acton police:

The Acton Police Department has been investigating a rash of thefts from unlocked cars. The first report came in on November 7th and continued through November 15th the streets involved are Heritage, Forest, Thoreau, Old Colony, Lawsbrook, School, and Hosmer. All of the vehicles entered had been left unlocked and items stolen included, Ipods, wallets, checkbooks and money.

There was one car stolen from Forest Street in Acton on November 7th that was recovered in Concord Mass in the early hours of November 12th. The Concord Police Department charged Matthew J. Troiano 23, of Woburn Ma. with receiving that stolen motor vehicle and attempting to break into vehicles in their town.

The Acton Police Department is charging Matthew J. Troiano with receiving stolen property that was taken from a vehicle break on Hosmer St and are currently investigating the thefts of other items stolen in our town.

We ask all our residents to please lock your vehicles and do not leave valuables in them.
