Acton Coffee House Celebrates National Poetry Month

Local café Acton Coffee House marks National Poetry Month with a poetry contest.

Begun in 1996 by the Academy of American Poets, National Poetry Month (April) has become a great American tradition with readings, lectures, and other forms of celebration occurring in schools, libraries, bookstores, towns and cities. Acton Coffee House is celebrating National Poetry Month by holding a poetry contest.

Poets can submit a poem(s) to actoncoffeehouse@verizon.net from now through April 30. The winning poem will be published on the Acton Coffee House website — www.actoncoffeehouse.com — and the winning poet will receive a free coffee and gift card.

The contest will be judged by Acton Coffee House owners Bill and Hanka Ray. The owners both studied English literature, and Bill taught English for more than 30 years. He is also a published writer.
