Acton Fire Displaces 4 Residents, 2 Pets

ACTON, MA — An overnight house fire in Acton displaced four residents and their two pets. The fire on Olde Lantern Road broke out round 11:30 p.m. on Thursday and fire officials said working smoke detectors made the crucial difference in the family getting out of the home in time and uninjured.

Firefighters were met with heavy smoke and a fire coming from the second-floor bedroom. An aggressive attack knocked down the flames within 20 minutes and prevented the fire from spreading to the rest of the home.

The Building Commissioner, District 14 fire investigation team and wiring inspector responded to the scene as well.

"With all fires, time is of the essence. Fortunately, everyone in the home was immediately alerted to the fire with the help of working smoke detectors, and as a result no one was injured and we were able to respond swiftly," said Chief Hart. "I want to thank all of the responding companies who assisted us on the call."

The scene was cleared at 12:58 a.m. Friday.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Acton Fire Department.
