Acton to Host Chinese New Year Celebration This Weekend

ACTON, MA – The Acton Chinese Language School will host a gala Chinese New Year Celebration this Sunday at Acton-Boxborough Regional High School.

The festivities will run all afternoon from 2-9 p.m. and are geared toward all ages, from children to senior citizens. The celebration is free, but food tickets are required and cost $10 per person.

Here's the rundown of events:

• 2-5 p.m. in the lobby and cafeteria of ABRHS Auditorium building: Entertainment & Chinese Culture Activities, CSL(Chinese as Second Language) open class for the culture of celebrating New Year, details about new student enrollment.
• 5-6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria of ABRHS Auditorium building: Traditional Chinese Food (tickets are required)
• 6-8:30 p.m. in the ABRHS auditorium: Chinese New Year Gala performances featuring traditional and ethnic singing, traditional Chinese musical instrument performances and traditional Chinese talk show. Children under the age of 5 are not admitted.

Activities include a Chinese calligraphy and Chinese brush painting exhibition, Chinese handcrafting, children's games and Chinese and English riddles.
