Acton Names Municipal Employee of the Year

ACTON, MA—Ms. Weiyuan Sun, an Administrative Assistant for the Acton Health Department, was named as Acton's Municipal Employee of the Year Tuesday.

According to a release from Acton Town Manager Steven Ledoux, Sun has taken on the role of staff translator working with members of the Asian community, given the town's growing Chinese population. She has assisted in multiple programs involving the town's Asian population including healthy cooking classes for Asian seniors, and the translation of Fire Department cards to mandarin.

"In summary, Wei is professional, kind, and sincere," Ledoux wrote. "She is a hard worker and extremely trustworthy. Wei is a great asset to the Health Department and an integral part of the Town of Acton."

In addition, Ledoux noted that Sun has helped staff members learn simple words in Chinese so that they can assist non-English speaking residents.
