Acton Officers Use Narcan to Save Overdose Victim

The victim was transported to Emerson Hospital.

ACTON, MA—Acton police officers saved a Boxborough resident who was suffering from an overdose Wednesday evening.

According to a statement by Deputy Police Chief Richard Burrows, drug unit officer Luke Penney was conducting surveilance on a vehicle operated by a 30-year-old Boxborough resident who was a suspected drug user. Officers later determined that the victim was suffering from an overdose, and administered nasal naloxone, or Narcan to save the victim’s life.

After a period of time, drug unit officer Dean Keeler observed the victim slumped over the steering wheel and drooling with his hand on the shifter and foot on the brake. Officers later entered the vehicle and administered Narcan to the victim.
