Acton Police Aid Feds in Case Against Woman Who Admitted to Stealing Identities in Box Store Scheme

Laura Minot, 52, of Mattapan, admitted to conspiring with a group to buy gift cards and merchandise with stolen information.

Acton police assisted in the federal investigation of a Mattapan woman who last week admitted to using stolen personal information to buy gift cards and merchandise at big box stores in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

Laura Minot, 52, pleaded guilty to aggravated identity theft and conspiracy in U.S. District Court in New Hampshire.

She said in April 2014, she and several others purchased the items using credit card accounts and lines of credit that they opened in other people’s names without their knowledge. Some of the purchases were made at stores in Nashua, N.H.

Minot is scheduled to be sentenced July 31. She faces up to 25 months in prison.
