“Due to the severity of the opioid abuse in the New England Area and the many fatal overdoses, the Acton Police Department will soon be carrying Nasal Naloxone in the police cruisers. Nasal Naloxone is a proven antidote to overdose by opioids and saves many lives across the state every week. After working closely with the unions the policy has been recently issued, the nasal inhalers have been ordered and each officer will be trained on their use. Once all the training is completed the Naloxone will deployed in each of the marked cruisers. We expect this lifesaving tool to be in place by the beginning of 2015.”
Police in Littleton police said they recently used Narcan to revive an overdose victim. Police there said there has been eight overdoses in recent months.
