Acton Police Log for Friday's Storm [VIDEO]
Between the hours of 3:42 p.m. to 9:22 p.m., the Acton Police received a great deal of storm related emergency phone calls. Several wires were down, trees that were struck by lightning fell on homes and vehicles and a parrot went missing.
8/19/11 - Friday's Storm Acton Police Log:
- 3:42 p.m. - Washington Drive: A report about a wire down because of a branch. NSTAR was notified.
- 3:41 p.m. - Revolutionary Road: A report about wires being down. NSTAR was notified.
- 3:34 p.m. - Main Street: Police responded to a report about something .
- 3:44 p.m. - Great Road: A report about a wire being down. NSTAR was notified.
- 3:45 p.m. Newton Road: There was a report about a tree knocking down wires. NSTAR and Verizon were notified.
- 4 p.m. - Newton Road: Someone reported that a tree was down.
- 3:52 p.m. - Great Road: A fire was put out caused by a tree falling on a wire. NSTAR was notified.
- 4:01 p.m. - Main Street: NSTAR was notified about a tree that knocked down wires.
- 4:16 p.m. - Isaac Davis Way: There was a report about smoking wires rubbing against trees. NSTAR was notified.
- 4:32 p.m. - Mass Ave.: A flooding caused a fire alarm to go off.
- 4:32 p.m. - Main Street: Police responded to a tree that fell on a vehicle. No one was seriously injured.
- 4:31 p.m. Evergreen Road: There was a report of a tree falling on a house. People were inside the home but no one was injured.
- 4:35 p.m. - Pinewood Road: A transformer busted.
- 5:25 p.m. - Great Road: There was an alarm activation at a jewelers after the front glass door broke. Police checked the building and everything was secure but the power was out.
- 6:21 p.m. - Minot Ave.: A branch was reported hanging on wires, but was not smoking at the time. NSTAR was notified.
- 6:30 p.m. - Canterbury Hill Road: There was a report about a tree that went through a house with no reported injuries. The report states that the damage was due to a water pipe burst.
- 6:31 p.m. - Great Road: There were reports about a telephone pole that caught fire. The fire was put out and NSTAR was notified.
- 8 p.m. - Agawam Road: Police were notified about a leaking propane tank.
- 9:22 p.m. - School Street: Someone reported that his pet parrot went missing.
