Acton Police Say They Came for a Fire, But Found a Drug Making Operation

BREAKING: Police discovered a drug making operation in Acton after responding to a Hosmer Street apartment for a fire in the building.

ACTON, MA — After responding to a Hosmer street apartment for a fire in the building, the Acton Police and Fire Department discovered a drug-making operation, Acton Deputy Chief Richard Burrows announced Friday.

According to the announcement, Police and firefighters entered the apartment and discovered a drug making operation at around 9:30 a.m. Thursday. After the apartment was secured, a search warrant was executed and police discovered a large amount of marijuana and hashish oil.

Lt. Ed Lawton of the Acton Police Department told Patch that the fire was a small fire on the rug which set off the fire alarm, but was put out before police and firefighters arrived .

Police later arrested Marcus A. Upshaw, 26, of Hosmer Street on scene on charges of Class C drug possession with intent to distribute, possession of a class C substance with intent to manufacture, and possession of marijuana over 1 oz.
