Acton Voters to Decide on Pay-Per-Bag System for Trash Disposal
Voters will decide on the proposal at Town Meeting in April. A public forum will be held March 4.

Acton voters in April will decide on a proposed pay-per-bag system at the transfer station.
Currently, residents pay a $210 fee to dispose of trash and recyclables at the transfer station. The pay-per-bag system would reduce that fee to about $100—but residents would have to purchase bags to dispose of their trash. The bags would come in three size and cost anywhere from 50 cents for a small bag to $1.50 for a large one.
Advocates say the system will reduce trash and increase recycling.
