3 Insider Personal Trainer Tips to Getting in Shape for 2012
Are you looking to make 2012 the year to get in shape? Try following these 3 insider personal trainer tips to make your goal a reality.

I want to start of this post by formally introducing myself. My name is Robby Blanchard and I am really excited to be blogging on the topic of Health and Fitness. As the owner of successful personal training studio, fitness boot camp and soon to be CrossFit gym, I wanted to do something to give back to the community because you guys have been so good to me!
You see, I've helped hundreds of people lose weight over the last several years and over that time I have really found 3 things to be very helpful when it comes to getting results.
Sure, there are many things you can do to get to where you want to be in your fitness, however I find that the most important thing is to keep things simple and keep it do-able.

So for this blog post I've boiled it down to 3 things that you should really focus on in order to achieve your goal....
Insider Tip #1: Find your motivation.

What is it that motivates you? Is it your appearance? The way your clothes fit? Is it your family and children?
Whatever your motivation is, find it and use it! All too often when someone starts an exercise program all they can think about is "I do not like working out" or "I don't think I can stick with this" or even worse "this is too hard!"
Instead of focusing on what you don't like...focus on what you want! If you want your skinny jeans that you wore in high school to fit again, focus on that! If you have a reunion coming up and you really want to impress that old high school sweetheart...focus on that!
You see, when you focus on what motivates you and what drives you...it doesn't matter how hard you have to work to get there, you will do it. Successful people do this all the time outside of fitness, and successful people do it inside of fitness too.
Insider Tip #2: You are who you associate with.
Whenever I have a new boot camp member or client come to see me, one question that I like to ask them is "what do your friends think about you wanting to get in shape?"
If the person says, "they are all for it!", then that’s awesome. However more often than not...when a person decides to make a change with their body, their success relies heavily on whom they surround themselves with. If your friends are not supportive or don't have the same fitness goals as you, this can really affect your results.
I remember growing up how I really wanted to be really good at playing basketball. My parents were very supportive although they did not know much about playing the sport. So what did I do? I would watch every single basketball game that I could. I would go with my dad to every high school, college, and professional basketball game that I could. I associated myself with people who knew the game and had what I wanted.
If you want to be successful.... spend your time with successful people. If you want to be in great shape? Surround yourself with people who are already in great shape.
Insider Tip #3: Think long, think wrong.... just do it!
A few years back I had this great idea for a product that I thought would do very well in my industry.
I got all excited and started thinking about it and talking to people about it. They would all love the idea and say, "Robby you should do it!"
A few months went by and I was still talking about this idea to people. A few months turned into many months, which turned into a year. And to this day I still have not followed through with this product.... but I'm going to do it!
This is what the vast majority of people do when it comes to fitness. We have this great idea that "I'm going to get in shape!" And we tell our friends and we talk about how great we are going to feel and this and that. And what do you think happens?
Weeks go by, months go by, and years go by.
As one of my clients who is very successful in life said to me one day. “Think long, think wrong."
When it comes to fitness...stop thinking so much and do it! Once you have that idea in your head, take action and make it a reality. Maybe you don't know exactly what to do, but it doesn't matter...take the first step! Workout with a friend, join a bootcamp, get a personal trainer...do whatever it takes to keep that momentum going.
When it comes to getting in shape, it's not always easy. However...that doesn't mean it is hard. If you have the motivation, people around to support you and you take action, you'd be amazed how much you can accomplish.
Stay Fit,
Robby
