3 of 5: Great Websites for Family Caregivers

Lotsa Helping Hands brings families and friends together in caring for a loved one coping with illness or disability.

One of the most useful sites on the web for family caregivers is known as Lotsa Helping Hands.

The site is a free calendar and information sharing system whereby families can track needs, make notes about changes and coordinate the help of neighbors, friends, church members and concerned others. People who want to help can see and respond to needs such as meal preparation, errands, transportation, household tasks, yard care or helping with childcare or any other need which might arise when coping with a loved one who is ill or dealing with a disability.

The site is easy to use and has a webinar which can guide users through the website features.

Information on the site is kept private. Information and access is shared only with approved participants.

Once set up, the site can be "taken down" at any time. The goal of the site is to help families, neighbors, co-workers, faith communities and others to coordinate needs, schedules and availability to meet the needs of an individual who is coping with illness or disability.
