An Independent State Senate Agenda for Acton

Acton is no stranger to seeing their property taxes rise, home values fall and Local Aid on life support. MA public works projects (road, bridge or MBTA) take years to finish or even start. Underemployment is very real, and our seniors worry if Medicare will be there for them.

In this Great Recession, we need to do better.

I’m running for State Senate on my strengths as a MA certified teacher and former state transportation official with the experience to chart a new approach. It's time to bring balance to Beacon Hill; force more roll-call votes and spark debate on these important issues.

I'll be an independent voice for stronger suburban schools, faster MassDOT Projects, and more private sector jobs – without picking winners and losers with the Peoples' Money.

• Acton NEEDS is a more competitive, small business climate that entices all firms – in all industries, along with this ‘brain power’ to stay in the Middlesex and Worcester District instead of leaving our region and state. We are conducting the wrong strategy for an overall, stronger state economy when state senators attemp to play "venture capitalist" in the marketplace.

• Acton NEEDS is to restore our commitment to educational excellence and Human Capital as the #1 issue in Assabet Valley, MetroWest, or Nashoba Valley. This is our tradition of excellence which is luring families from China, India, Brazil and the rest of the world to our city and towns.

• Acton NEEDS is to broaden our tax base, simplify and lower rates and end special giveaways. We need broad based reform that closes loopholes, reduces compliance costs and will stimulate both business and consumer spending.

• Acton NEEDS is a design and construction process that builds MassDOT road, bridge and transit projects much faster and more efficiently than the dismal record amassed during the last 15-20 years.
