Cavaretta for State Senate lays out Education, Economy & Health Care Priorities
Dean Cavaretta is running for State Senate on his own strengths as a MA Certified Teacher and Fmr. MassDOT Consultant. (www.MomsAndDadsForDean.com)
Education
1. Advocate for the implementation of a MCAS exam for U.S. History because learning about America's Founders and Constitution should be a core subject.
2. Remove the new unfunded mandate in MA public schools: Rising professional development costs unfairly absorbed by newer teachers and local taxpayers.

3. File legislation to give communities more autonomy over Regional Agreements and School Building Assistance funds.
4. Showcase the District's best practices with our leading charter, vocational and private schools for the state to follow.

MA Economy
-Dean has introduced an Economic Plan that lowers taxes, closes loopholes, and preserves Local Aid. His bill is called an "Act to Make MA Competitive for New Jobs." It sets as a goal the elimination of ALL state special tax breaks and giveaways to lower rates for everyone else.
-Dean's Opponent and the Legislature must change their approach from subsidizing winners and losers in favored industries, to creating an overall, more "business friendly" environment in a range of policy and regulatory areas. Some of our main streets look like ghost towns and the overall tax base is too narrow.
Save Medicare for SENIORS
-Dean does not support efforts to enlarge the popular, age 65+ program for everyone, like his opponent wants to do. Massachusetts is not Canada or Vermont and this radical approach is too costly and bureaucratic, in the middle of a growing doctor shortage and worst F/T jobs climate since 1929.
-Dean will work to provide more benefit design flexibility within the MA Health Connector: A bipartisan framework in place within the private marketplace.
