Forum on School Regionalization: Who Benefits
The LWV- Acton Area will host a panel discussion at 7:30 PM on May 14th at Acton Town Hall on the issues surrounding the proposed agreement to regionalize the Acton and Boxboro elementary schools.

The League of Women Voters- Acton Area will host a panel discussion at 7:30 PM on May 14th in Room 204 of Acton Town Hall on the issues surrounding the proposed agreement to regionalize the Acton and Boxborough elementary schools. Both Acton and Boxborough residents will be voting to either approve or disapprove this agreement at Special Town Meetings in both towns on June 3rd.
Panel members, who will include representatives of the School Committees and the Regional Study Committee, will focus on the financial aspects of the regionalization; where there are savings and who benefits from these savings. The discussion will highlight what has changed with this revised agreement since the earlier one was rejected by the Acton members of the Study Committee. The panel will address issues regarding the financial and educational benefits of regionalization, concerns expressed by parents that their children will be losing something by regionalizing the schools, any impact that the changing demographics in the two towns might have in the future, how the new administration and school committee will be formed, the benefits for education, and that both towns can have an adequate voice in the governance and financing of the enlarged region.
There will be time available for questions from the audience.
