If Elected, Cavaretta to Serve on Joint Education Committee, says Sen. Tarr

Our district has always cared about excellence in public education. I look forward, if elected, to use my practical and real world experience to benefit our kids and schools on Day One.

State Senate Minority Leader Bruce Tarr (R-Gloucester) said this week in a press statement that he would enthusiastically appoint me to serve on the Legislature’s Joint Committee on Education, if I am elected to the Massachusetts State Senate on November 6th.

Tarr said that my experience as an educator, fmr. high school coach, and special education assistant uniquely positions me to help strengthen our local commitment to educational excellence - on Beacon Hill.

I'm very excited to serve on this powerful and important committee, and ask ALL Acton voters support me in November to make this a reality.

This potential committee assignment helps our schools, administrators, local/regional school committees as well as our support and instructional staffs. But, most of all, it helps our talented students.  As a potential legislator with direct say and impact on this type of important legislation - I fully intend to restore public education as the number one issue for any Beacon Hill legislator who seeks to represent Acton and Boxborough starting in 2013.

“Dean Cavaretta has real and valuable experience in the classrooms of the Acton and Acton Boxborough Regional Public School systems, and that experience and a passion for providing our kids with the best education possible make him a clear choice for service on the Committee on Education.  He’s already shown leadership on educational issues by developing an extensive 10-point plan to make our schools stronger,” Tarr said in his press release this week.

The Legislature's Joint Committee on Education has subject matter jurisdiction over all matters relating to education through the twelfth grade.

“It’s one of the most important committees in the Legislature because it is focused on developing an educated population, which is our greatest natural resource and an important element of our state’s economic competitiveness,” Senator Tarr went on to further note.
