Are you in need of fuel assistance?
The Acton Council on Aging is letting residents know about four fuel assistance programs which provide help for individuals of all ages. In some cases, the assistance extends to meeting the expense of other utilities.

The programs include the Emergency Fuel Assistance Fund managed by the Friends of the Council on Aging, Acton Senior Center as well as a program offering free heating oil of people in need through Citizens Energy Heath Assistance.
Other programs include the Good Neighbor Energy Fund which is a cooperative effort of the utility companies and Salvation Army and yet another fuel assistance program is known as South Middlesex Opportunity Council Low Income Home Energy Fuel Assistance.

Qualifications for each program vary. Some are available to persons of any age and some are income-based. Fuel assistance programs tend to be "one time delivery" or offer help during a period of financial hardship.
