Sorrento's Brick Oven Difference

Thin crust pizzas, subs, pasta, and more.

At first glance, looks pretty much like your average pizza parlor, with a handful of tables in the front, a couple of beverage coolers against the side wall, and a menu written on blackboards above a counter that runs the length of the restaurant. But then you look behind the counter and see the brick oven, glowing inside from the pile of burning logs in the back. The brick oven gets so hot that Sorrento's thin crust pizzas cook in just a couple of minutes, less time than it takes to read the long list of pizza varieties available on the menu.

Sorrento's menu lists a whopping 44 kinds of pizza, not including "create your own." Varieties include the Alla Salumiera (prosciutto, sweet capicola, Genoa salami, roasted red peppers, mushrooms, mozzarella, tomato sauce, and rosemary), Spicy Fingers (chicken fingers, blue cheese spread, mozzarella, and spicy buffalo sauce), and even the Breakfast Pizza (scrambled eggs, pepperoni, bacon, cheese, and ranch sauce). You can also order pizzas named after the four towns with Sorrento's locations: Concord, Gardner, Harvard, and Acton. The Acton consists of caramelized onions, grilled chicken, mozzarella, and barbecue sauce.

But Sorrento's serves a lot more than just pizza. Appetizers on the menu range from stuffed eggplant to fried calamari. You'll also find more than a dozen types of salads, a selection of wraps, and the usual hot and cold subs. Pasta dishes go well beyond spaghetti and meatballs, including concoctions such as Chicken Domenico (chicken, ham, mushrooms, peas, and Alfredo sauce) to Cajun Gamberato [sic] (Cajun-spiced grilled shrimp, tomatoes, and a Cajun cream sauce). Unlike the other three locations, the Acton restaurant also serves wine and beer.
