The Black Gold Miners Composting Workshops a Success!
The Black Gold Miners were successful in their efforts to create awareness about the benefits of composting in Acton!

Our composting workshops were a great success! Thanks to everyone who came and supported us! We conducted workshops on January 17th and January 24th- a total of 4 workshops.
On January 24th, we had Senator Eldridge and Mr. Gowing, the Chair of the Board of Selectmen, attend our workshop. We are very grateful to them for attending our workshop and being very supportive in our efforts of creating awareness about composting. We were also very happy that Mr. Clark from Acton Patch, who was at our workshop, . We had a room full of guests on both days. Some were new to the idea of composting and some have been composting at their homes.
We covered the C:N ratio and pH compositions required for making black gold (compost)! We talked about switching to bio-degradable products such as non-bleached napkins, which are compostable. We created awareness among Acton residents that composting is one of the ways of categorizing Acton as environmentally forward thinking. In addition, we talked about how much our town could save on trash hauling costs. The above are just a few examples of the topics we covered.
